Our Mission

The Gratuity Angel exists to transform grief into acts of kindness by inspiring people to honor loved ones through generosity, compassion, and meaningful giving within their communities.

Through unexpected acts of gratitude, we aim to spread love, create human connection, and keep the spirit of those we’ve lost alive.

Turning Grief Into Goodness

What Exactly Are We doing

We are creating a community that allows us to come together and share stories and inspiration from loved ones who impacted our lives and may no longer be with us earth side. Giving back to our community in moments of grief allow us to lift our spirits and honor our loved ones in a wholesome and genuine fashion.

We encourage our community to leave an impact on their local service-based companies by leaving a monetary gift that they may not normally leave.

We have designed and printed special tip message cards that allow you to notate who you're leaving the monetary gift in honor of. The envelope will allow the receivers the ability to find and become a part of our community themselves.

Use the Contact Form below to request envelopes to use in your community!

Support The Gratuity Angel

Although the message cards are provided to our community members at no cost to yourself, there ultimately is a price to print and distribute the cards and support this project. Donations are welcome but not required! We appreciate any help we receive to continue our mission of spreading goodness throughout our nation!

Where It All Started

My best friend (Nick) was a force of nature with the biggest heart you’ve ever seen. He loved to ponder all sides of the coin and his curiosity was endless in life. But he always valued “thy neighbor”.

We met when I was 16 and it was immediate. He was my best friend soulmate for life. Unfortunately, his life was cut way too short at the age of 33. The emotional battle that ensued was significant, but I knew there needed to be something substantial that came next from this. The moment of realization came a week after his passing.

The week of his funeral I sat with my husband and expressed that Nick was worth so much more than buying some flowers that’ll ultimately wilt. I shared with my husband that through the years as Nick and I would get together and we’d go out to eat, he’d always leave an abnormally large tip for the waiters. Now one thing to note is Nick had his ups and downs in life, and even in a moment where he didn’t have two nickels to rub together he’d get that light in his eyes that I knew meant he was trying to make an impact. He truly fed off the energy of “making the waiters day”.

After sharing this with my husband, he immediately encouraged an annual “tip like Nick” day. And since that moment, I’ve found myself making those moments more often than not. Not always in honor of Nick, sometimes I do it “Just because” (An Ode to my Aunt who taught us that you don't have to have a specific reason to do great things). But I’ve found that sharing this little bit of “goodness” if you will with my community has been positively healing. I truly can't thank my husband enough for his support through great loss, and encouragement through my crazy idea to impact my community.

Nicholas Fenn, I hope you’re looking down and proud. This is a product of your heart.
